Background Information

The NZ Branch Education Endowment Trust was set up with initial funding from profits of the Auckland PACRIM Congress in 1995. The NZ Trust is separate from the Education Endowment Fund operated by the AusIMM in Australia as New Zealand students are not eligible for the Australian EEF for tax reasons. Since the Trust's inception there have been more than 40 scholarships to students at New Zealand universities. Information on the Trust can be found in the Trust Deed

Purpose

The purpose of the Trust is to support activities that benefit the mining and petroleum industries in New Zealand. These include supporting research projects, providing research scholarships to students and funding lectures and endowed professorships.

Donations

The Trust is funded from donations, and from the NZ Branch of the AusIMM which derives most of its income from annual conferences. The Trust is registered with the NZ Inland Revenue Department as charitable trust, and donations are tax deductible.Donations can be made by members when annual membership subscriptions are paid, or directly to the NZ Branch at any time.
